After getting thrown out of an orphanage, young Nakajima Atsushi arrives in Yokohama just in time to interrupt the attempted suicide of Dazai Osamu. As it happens, Dazai belongs to the Armed Detective Agency – an organisation of individuals with extraordinary Abilities – and is presently looking for a man-eating tiger reported to be in the vicinity.

Nakajima seems to have a connection to the beast, so Dazai drags him along to investigate the case... but then...!

The stage is set In Yokohama for an action-packed literary jam session!

Following the deadly battle with Akutagawa, Nakajima Atsushi wakes up in the infirmary at the Armed Detective Agency. In order to prevent further harm to the Agency, he decides to run away. But the merciless Port Mafia dispatches its "Black Lizard" combat troops, led by Ability user Hirotsu Ryuro, to raid the Agency. Not only that, other Agency members are ambushed by the Mafia's Ability users, such as bomb fiend Kaji Motojiro – and Izumi Kyoka, a mysterious girl in a red kimono...

The battle between literary abilities continues into Volume 2!

Izumi Kyoka tried to end her life so she wouldn't have to kill for the Port Mafia anymore. After Nakajima Atsushi saves her, he treats her to her favourite tofu, ostensibly to gather information about the Mafia... but this fleeting peace is interrupted by Akutagawa's nefarious scheming.

Meanwhile, Dazai is being held by the Mafia, where he encounters a familiar face – his former partner and arch-enemy, Nakahara Chuya!
