Explored through the poet’s introspection of his life, each poem documents his experiences from childhood through to adulthood, extracting common ground. The poems explore universal themes of love, pain, grief and loss, centred in a Singaporean context, with familiar Asian parental influences. The book’s sequence loosely follows the order of what appears to be a family tree, and through the interlinkage of lives, the poet as a person is the product of the intertwining lives.
